The main focus here is on alerts. Alerts are warnings that are issued regarding specific substances or dangerous drug combinations that have been detected via the network of Drug Checking programs. The major priority here is to highlight European alerts, although relevant alerts that focus on a specific country will also be featured here.

A Combined Approach Using Transporter-Flux Assays and Mass Spectrometry to Examine Psychostimulant Street Drugs of Unknown Content

In this study a combined approach, comparing the composition of drug samples, obtained at music events and tested by mass spectrometry, with their functional activity at cellular level on the neuronal transporters for dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine and GABA, was tested.This article is available in downloads section (scientifical articles).

PMA in Europe

PMA was detected by Drug Checking services in March 2012 in two countries: Spain and Austria. In Spain, PMA was detected in a powder, while in Austria, it was found in 12 pills mixed with a variety of other substances including caffeine, 4-MEC, alpha-PPP, mephedrone and pFPP. Proliferation of Drug Checking Activities (RedNET Conference)

The TEDI Project and related Drug Checking projects were introduced at RedNet’s First International Conference on Novel Psychoactive Substances (NPS), “The Ever-Changing World of Psychoactive Drugs” that took place in Budapest, Hungary, 12-13 March 2012. The conference featured four Drug Checking presentations:
